Abstract

This book introduces readers into a collection of works that consist of submissions from both academics and professionals gravitating around the field of intelligence as it pertains to international security, and this chapter provides an overview of how to understand relationships and the selective sharing of intelligence in enhancing a country’s position and security. Accordingly, this chapter provides the context and common theme for the five main themes: (1) the changing nature of strategic intelligence requirements and the importance of expert analysis, integration and cooperation within intelligence organizations, (2) how to classify intelligence relationships through partnership types within the intelligence community, (3) early warning in the age of hybrid warfare and countering this type of threat, (4) the importance of sharing information with the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and (5) challenges of commanding military spies.
