Contestations and assertions in public discourse signal a strong change in the postcolonial world that has for long been engaged in struggles and wars to free itself from colonizing powers. Literature and history have, in fact, meticulously recorded the pain and trauma undergone by the people of such regions. More important is to conduct a reality check and find out how far these struggles and assertions have been successful in bringing about transformations to the human lives in these regions. In order to do that, looking back at such records becomes necessary and this paper is an attempt to reread Buchi Emecheta’s Destination Biafra, a war novel from a female fighter-protagonist’s view. …
