Abstract

The article investigates the performance and failure mechanisms of drill bits used in granite formation drilling, focusing on PDC, tri-cone, and PDC-cone composite bits. Through indoor experiments and field application data, the study analyzes the dynamic characteristics, rock-breaking efficiency, and wear patterns of these drill bits. Notably, the PDC bit shows the highest drilling efficiency but also the greatest wear, while the tri-cone bit exhibits lower wear but less efficiency. The PDC-cone composite bit combines the advantages of both, offering a promising solution for challenging drilling conditions. The research provides valuable insights for optimizing drill bits and improving drilling performance in hard-to-drill formations.
