Abstract

The article delves into the complexities of cross-dating tree ring chronologies of Siberian pine and Siberian larch at the upper forest boundary in the Altai-Sayan ecoregion. It discusses the limitations of traditional methods like tree ring width and introduces the use of optical density delta as a more reliable parameter for cross-dating. The research aims to extend existing chronologies, thereby deepening our understanding of past climate change and ecological dynamics in the region. The study's findings have significant implications for paleoclimatic reconstructions and the verification of climate data from other natural archives.
