Abstract

This article delves into the rich history of EEG technology, from its inception by Hans Berger to its current applications in psychiatry and neurology. It explores the evolution of EEG analysis, from manual methods to advanced computational techniques, and emphasizes the promising role of AI in enhancing the understanding of brain activity. The authors discuss the various AI algorithms used for EEG classification, such as machine learning and deep learning, and their applications in seizure detection and brain-computer interfaces. The article also addresses the philosophical and epistemological foundations of EEG data analysis, arguing for a more integrated approach that incorporates traditional neuroscience methods with AI classification algorithms. By doing so, the authors aim to bridge the gap between the data-driven approach of AI and the theory-driven approach of neuroscience, ultimately advancing our understanding of brain dynamics and functioning.
