Abstract

The article delves into the thermal behavior of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM), focusing on the use of infrared heaters to control thermal cycles and improve part quality. It compares the conventional WAAM process with the use of infrared heaters, highlighting the benefits of reduced residual stress, distortion, and microstructural defects. The study demonstrates that infrared heaters can lead to more homogeneous microstructures and enhanced mechanical properties, making it a promising approach for improving WAAM processes. The research includes detailed analyses of microstructure, mechanical properties, and thermal behavior, providing valuable insights for professionals in the field of additive manufacturing.
