Abstract

The chapter 'Thermal Effects in Multiphase Flow Analysis for Offshore Oil Systems' explores the critical role of thermal analysis in preventing hydrate and paraffin formations in offshore oil systems. It introduces a sophisticated one-dimensional, three-phase flow model that considers compressible gas and liquid phases, homogenized oil and water phases, and the impact of temperature on flow patterns. The model incorporates energy conservation equations and closure laws to accurately simulate pressure and temperature profiles. The chapter highlights the significance of thermal effects on system reliability and production planning, demonstrating that while temperature has a secondary effect, it must be accounted for to improve numerical results and planning.
