Abstract

The article delves into the thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of phosphorus oxidation during phosphorous cast iron treatment. It explores the equilibrium constants and ion activity coefficients in slag, crucial for calculating the equilibrium phosphorus content in metal. The study reveals that the phosphorus oxidation process is limited by internal mass transfer rather than chemical reactions, highlighting the importance of mass transfer conditions in achieving thorough dephosphorization. The research also discusses the impact of slag basicity and oxidation capacity on phosphorus distribution and the challenges in maintaining stable oxidation levels during steel production.
