Abstract

The article presents a detailed numerical study on optimizing the discharge coefficient of screech holes in afterburners, which are crucial for managing combustion instabilities. It investigates the effects of hole diameter, operating density, and multiple hole configurations on the discharge coefficient using CFD techniques. The study highlights the importance of these parameters in ensuring optimal flow through the anti-screech holes, which is vital for maintaining the performance of afterburners in military jet engines. The findings provide valuable insights into the behavior of cross flows in single and multiple hole configurations, contributing to the understanding of gas turbine combustion systems.
