Abstract

The chapter delves into the constitutive equation for incompressible, homogeneous, linearly viscous fluids, with a focus on non-Newtonian fluids where viscosity varies with shear rate. It introduces the Cross model to describe the viscosity function and presents an alternative theory using Cosserat theory to reduce the three-dimensional problem to a one-dimensional system. The work includes numerical simulations for a circular cross-section tube, highlighting the application of the Cosserat theory in predicting flow properties and simplifying complex computational problems.
