Abstract

This article delves into the realm of quantum state tomography, focusing on the reconstruction of three-qubit states using IBM’s quantum processor ibm_osaka. It introduces two efficient tomographic schemes: a full three-qubit QST protocol with 17 measurement settings and a reduced-state approach involving only seven measurement settings for two-qubit subsystems. The experimental implementation on ibm_osaka demonstrates the reconstruction of the three-qubit W state, highlighting the practical utility of reduced-state tomography. The article also discusses error mitigation techniques, spectral correction procedures, and the fidelity of reconstructed states. The results show that the reduced-state approach can achieve slightly higher fidelities compared to full-state tomography, making it a promising method for resource-efficient quantum state reconstruction. The article concludes with a summary of the experimental findings and their implications for quantum computing research.
