Abstract

The chapter focuses on the experimental study of Tollmien-Schlichting waves artificially introduced into a boundary layer using a harmonic point source. The research explores the development of these waves and their non-linear effects, comparing experimental results with Linear Stability Theory predictions. Key findings include the growth and damping of wave amplitudes within the instability region, as well as the identification of non-linear interactions and sub-harmonic frequencies. The study provides valuable insights into the understanding of flow instabilities and turbulence onset, making it a significant contribution to the field of fluid dynamics.
