Abstract

The article focuses on the torque ripple minimization and speed control of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) employing model predictive control (MPC). SRMs are highlighted for their advantages in electric vehicle applications due to their high efficiency, low cost, and robustness. The paper delves into the challenges of SRMs, such as high torque ripple and noise, and proposes an MPC approach to address these issues. The MPC method is compared with traditional PI, LUT-based, and ANFIS controllers, demonstrating superior performance in reducing torque ripple and settling time. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed MPC, making it a promising solution for improving the stability and efficiency of SRMs in various applications.
