Abstract

The European Commission's road safety targets for 2030 aim to reduce fatalities and serious injuries by 50%, with a focus on vulnerable road users (VRUs) and micro-mobility safety. The SOTERIA project addresses these challenges through innovative solutions and data-driven approaches. Key topics include the use of living labs in Madrid and Greece to test and implement safety measures, such as protected bicycle lanes, geo-localised speed limits, and predictive analytics for dangerous events. The project also emphasizes the importance of user behaviour modelling, safe mobility data spaces, and advanced AI accident analysis. The expected outcomes include a 50% reduction in serious injuries and fatalities, improved traffic flow in urban areas, and enhanced governance and innovation in urban mobility logistics. By integrating these solutions, the SOTERIA project aims to create a safer, more secure, and accessible urban environment for all road users.
