Abstract

The study investigates the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of children aged 11-17 whose parents suffer from mental health problems. Using data from the BELLA study, the research indicates that adolescent girls in this group may have an increased risk for reduced well-being. Key factors influencing HRQoL include self-efficacy, social support, and family climate. Surprisingly, the mental health problems of the parents did not significantly impact the children’s well-being. These findings emphasize the importance of personal, familial, and social resources in supporting children from families with mental health issues. The study provides valuable insights for developing targeted support programs to enhance the well-being of these children.
