I am very happy that this seminar, focused on the perspectives of Euro-American relations in the 21st century, under the sponsorship of the National School of Administration and Indiana University, has been able to take place in the Senate. First because our High Assembly places a great importance on the quality of the future of transatlantic relations, and especially Franco-American relations. Next, because few subjects take on an importance comparable to this objective that is among the top priorities of French diplomacy: the development of a true global partnership in the next century between the U.S., whom the world needs the most, and an EU that is developing slowly but surely into one of the essential poles of the world of tomorrow.
