Abstract

The chapter focuses on the transformation program for low-efficiency electric motors in Turkey, driven by the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy efficiency. The program includes replacing inefficient motors with high-efficiency ones, promoting the use of variable-frequency drives, and strengthening legislative frameworks. The GEF project TEVMOT is highlighted as a key initiative to promote energy-efficient motors in small and medium-sized enterprises. The chapter also presents findings from an electric motors inventory analysis, revealing significant potential for energy savings. Market surveillance activities and the upgrading of testing facilities are discussed as crucial components of the transformation program. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the importance of energy efficiency for Turkey’s economic growth and environmental sustainability.
