Abstract

The chapter discusses the transformation of alum sludge, a waste product from water treatment, into value-added ceramsite. It explores the optimal fabrication process, including granulation and high-temperature pyrolysis, to produce lightweight-porous materials with large specific surface areas. The study evaluates the performance of the ceramsite in removing phosphorus from water, showing promising results with up to 90.05% removal efficiency. The work highlights the potential of this sustainable approach in waste management and water treatment, contributing to the circular economy and environmental sustainability.
