Abstract

The chapter delves into the transient CFD simulation of vortex formation in stirred multiphase flow systems, crucial for various industries. It discusses the significance of stirring systems in processes like polymerization, crystallization, and flocculation. The study employs ANSYS-Fluent to simulate a simple stirred tank, comparing results with experimental data. The use of a multiphase turbulent model and the VOF method allows for the qualitative validation of rotational fluid flow patterns. The chapter highlights the potential of CFD simulations in optimizing stirring system designs, emphasizing the need for precise geometrical models and refined numerical meshes to improve accuracy. The study concludes by suggesting future research directions to enhance the prediction of vortex formation dynamics.
