Abstract

The article discusses the challenge of recommending points of interest (POIs) in location-based social networks (LBSNs) due to data sparsity and cold start problems. It introduces a trust-aware spatial–temporal feature estimation approach that leverages social links, trust, and temporal context to enhance POI recommendations. The method includes estimating user activity profiles, direct and transitive trust-based neighbors, and using neural collaborative filtering for recommendations. The approach is validated through experiments on real-world datasets, demonstrating superior performance in precision, recall, and accuracy compared to existing methods. The article also addresses the challenges of cold start users and provides a comprehensive analysis of the proposed approach's effectiveness and future improvements.
