Abstract

The chapter explores the burgeoning concept of the Twin Transition 2.0, which integrates sustainability and digital strategies within supply chains and logistics. It begins by highlighting the dual trends of sustainability and digitization, noting the significant market growth in reverse logistics and the increasing consumer demand for sustainable delivery options. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology to analyze 58 open-access publications from the Web of Science Core Collection, focusing on the period from 2009 to 2024. Key findings reveal a surge in research interest, particularly from 2018 onwards, with notable contributions from countries like the USA, France, and Germany. The analysis identifies prominent publishers such as Elsevier and MDPI, and underscores the dominance of sustainable development goals related to responsible consumption and industry innovation. Through network visualizations and keyword co-occurrence analysis, the chapter maps out the interconnected themes of sustainability, digitization, and supply chain management. It delves into specific topics such as Industry 4.0, digital twins, and the circular economy, providing a comprehensive overview of the current research landscape. The study concludes by addressing the gaps in existing literature and suggests avenues for future research, emphasizing the dynamic nature of the Twin Transition and its potential to revolutionize supply chain and logistics practices.
