Abstract

The chapter investigates the effects of texturing techniques, particularly bush hammering, on the unconfined compressive strength of concrete. It focuses on the reconstruction of Le Havre, where Auguste Perret's innovative use of textured concrete has stood the test of time. The study compares raw and textured concrete samples, assessing their structural integrity and uncertainties in unconfined compressive strength. Experimental methods and statistical analyses reveal that texturing has minimal impact on concrete strength, making this research invaluable for preserving historic concrete structures and advancing modern construction techniques.
