Abstract

This chapter introduces a innovative safety monitoring system tailored for underground workers, particularly those in sewage cleaning and mining. The system employs a combination of sensors to monitor vital health parameters in real time, including heart rate, oxygen levels, temperature, and gas concentrations. Key components include the Arduino microcontroller, MAX30100 pulse oximetry sensor, LM35 temperature sensor, MQ-4 natural gas sensor, and SO 110-Oxygen sensor. The system also features an emergency switch to ensure safety even in case of electronic failures. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the system's effectiveness in various underground environments, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance worker safety and reduce health risks associated with hazardous gases and other environmental factors.
