Abstract

The study delves into the element transfer behaviors of CaO–SiO2–MnO fluxes in submerged arc welding (SAW) of shipbuilding steel, specifically focusing on the droplet zone. It introduces a unique experimental methodology to collect and analyze droplets, revealing that the transfer of Si, Mn, and O into droplets is significantly influenced by welding current and MnO content in the fluxes. The results highlight the crucial role of arc plasma in element transfer, offering potential strategies for tuning weld metal composition.
