Abstract

The article presents a detailed upgrade of the mechatronic rolls positioning system for a piercing mill at the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant. The existing system, controlled by foreign-made equipment, faces maintenance challenges and limitations in automatic operation. The authors propose a new architecture using domestic equipment, featuring an automatic positioning system, intelligent rolls preload control software, and process visualization software. The upgrade includes a functional block diagram and mathematical models for optimal control, addressing issues such as untimely preload and varying workpiece characteristics. The implementation of a neural network for automatic control further enhances the system's capabilities, aiming to reduce defects and improve overall efficiency in pipe production.
