Abstract

The article delves into the critical issue of uplift performance of suction foundations in sandy soils for offshore platforms, a vital aspect of marine engineering. It begins by highlighting the strategic importance of the marine industry in China and the need for robust foundations to withstand environmental forces. The research builds on extensive studies conducted by various scholars, focusing on the influence of uplift angles and speeds on the bearing capacity of suction foundations. Through a series of scaled-down tests and numerical simulations using ABAQUS, the study provides a detailed analysis of the failure modes and ultimate bearing capacities under different conditions. The findings offer valuable insights into optimizing the design and performance of suction foundations, contributing significantly to the safety and stability of offshore platforms.
