Abstract

The chapter focuses on the urban drainage study of Gopalganj Pourashava, considering the future impacts of climate change. It begins with an introduction to the study area and the significance of climate change on hydrological systems. The methodology includes the use of EPA’s Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) to simulate and analyze current and future drainage conditions. The study identifies key challenges such as urban encroachment, increased high-frequency storm surges, and the need for improved drainage systems. It also presents alternative design options to enhance the urban drainage capacity and resilience against climate change impacts. The findings highlight the importance of effective urban planning and infrastructure development to mitigate the risks associated with climate change and urbanization.
