Abstract

Sustainability and its related concepts are gaining interest and people are valuing the quality of life and well-being more than their economic backgrounds. The present study aims to understand the difference in social sustainability, environmental quality of life and well-being in people residing in urban and rural locations. The difference were also found based on the gender and marital status. The data was collected from 149 working professionals. Social sustainability scale, WHOQOL-Bref, and WHO-5 Well-being Index were used to measure the variables. Rural residents reported higher social sustainability, environment quality of life and well-being which was similar for non-married individuals and also males. The study highlights the importance of having targeted interventions in the urban settings and gender equity policies.
