Abstract

The study focuses on the use of oyster shell powder (OSP) and modified oyster shell powder (MOSP) as additives in vermicomposting of cow dung to improve soil quality and plant growth. The research explores the effects of OSP and MOSP on earthworm growth, vermicompost properties, and nutrient retention. The field study, conducted over 60 days, reveals that both OSP and MOSP significantly increase earthworm growth and reproduction, enhance the specific surface area and porosity of vermicompost, and improve nutrient content. The study also highlights the potential of OSP and MOSP to reduce phytotoxicity and promote plant growth, making it a valuable resource for agricultural professionals and waste management specialists.
