Abstract

In this paper, we focus on two of the sectors with the highest accident rates, the construction sector and the manufacturing sector. The aim of this paper is to analyze the common causes and the variables with the greatest influence on the occurrence of occupational accidents in Spain in these two sectors. This analysis will allow us to find both similarities and differences that may be of interest in order to take more effective action to prevent accidents in the future. To address the aforementioned objective, a database provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy has been used, which contains all accidents registered in the ministry’s Delt@ system from 2009 to 2018. After exploring the database, several variables have been analyzed using the decision tree and clustering data mining technique.
