Utilising Digital Tools for Prevent Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders: A Systematic Application Review

This systematic review explores the landscape of digital tools designed to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Through a structured approach, 174 digital solutions were identified, with 31 meeting the selection criteria. These tools support various functions, including record-keeping, compliance auditing, risk assessment, and incident reporting. The review highlights the integration of traditional methods, such as the NIOSH lifting equation and the REBA method, into digital platforms, enhancing their accessibility and functionality. Key features include support for employee information provision, incident reporting, and the use of augmented and virtual reality applications for training. The study emphasizes the importance of responsible implementation due to the occasional lack of validation. Despite limitations in the initial identification of applications and the dynamic nature of digital tools, the review concludes that numerous possibilities exist for addressing ergonomic tasks, enabling accessible and user-friendly evaluations, training, and implementing workplace ergonomic programs.
