Abstract

The article introduces an improved soil base model for analyzing adjacent buildings with varying loads. Traditional models use a continuous linearly deformed layer, while the enhanced model accounts for three-dimensional formulations and finite distribution capabilities. The new model, Continuous Stepped Layer of Finite Distribution Capability (CSLFDC), considers the physical and mechanical properties of soils, geometric profiles, and boundary conditions. Numerical simulations using PLAXIS 3D demonstrate the model's effectiveness in predicting stress-strain states and settlements. Field observations from a 17-story building validate the model's accuracy, showing significant improvements over traditional methods. The study highlights the importance of considering varying compressible layers and load distributions in soil-structure interactions, particularly for large-sized foundations of adjacent buildings.
