In the design and tuning of electromechanical steering systems the software functions have a decisive influence on the characteristics of the steering and thus represent an important factor regarding the differentiation beside other manufacturers. In this article the Porsche AG as well as the Porsche Engineering Group and the University of Duisburg-Essen focus on the validation of EPS software functions. First, the authors introduce basic characteristics of the EPS and its functions. Subsequently, the methodology for validating these functions will be explained and their effectiveness will be demonstrated by the example of selected functions. …
