Abstract

The article delves into the global issue of heavy metal contamination in soil, particularly focusing on cadmium. It introduces banana peel biochar as a sustainable solution for phytoremediation, highlighting its unique properties and potential for reducing metal mobility and bioavailability. The study employs the Taguchi method to systematically evaluate the effects of biochar on soil enzymatic activity and the growth of Bidens pilosa, a Cd hyperaccumulator plant. The results show that biochar significantly enhances plant growth and soil health, making it a promising approach for environmental remediation.
