With the introduction of the Euro 7 emission standard, a further tightening of the NO_x emission limits and the regulations for real driving emissions is expected. The cold-start phase is regarded as particularly challenging in meeting these limits. Together with Jaguar Land Rover and IAV, Schaeffler has demonstrated the potential of efficient exhaust gas temperature management using a variable valve train with internal EGR, secondary exhaust valve lift and Miller timing and has now verified the results with full engine tests in the driving cycle. …
