Abstract

This chapter delves into the vibration stability analysis of Beam String Structures (BSS), focusing on the influence of prestress on their vibration frequencies. The study employs the exact matrix stiffness method, which is more efficient and user-friendly compared to traditional finite element methods. It explores how axial forces, particularly those resulting from prestress, affect the natural frequencies of BSS. The research validates its findings through comparative analysis with classical results and provides a detailed examination of the relationship between axial force and natural frequency. The study concludes that as axial force increases, the natural frequency of BSS decreases, offering crucial insights for engineers involved in the design and construction of large-span structures like gymnasiums and airports.
