Abstract

This chapter investigates the vibration suppression capabilities of parallel nonlinear energy sinks (NESs) under strong impulse excitations, focusing on systems with three repulsive magnets (P-3RMNESs). The study establishes a dynamic model of a primary structure equipped with P-3RMNESs, considering magnetic forces and beam dynamics. Key parameters of single and parallel NESs are optimized using genetic algorithms to enhance vibration suppression performance. The results highlight the superior performance of tristable P-3RMNESs compared to single NESs, demonstrating better impulse vibration suppression without increasing the absorber mass. The chapter delves into the potential energy landscapes and resonance behaviors of these systems, providing a detailed analysis of their frequency components and displacement responses. This comprehensive exploration offers valuable insights into the design and optimization of parallel NESs for effective vibration control in engineering structures.
