Abstract

The study investigates the use of vigorous rootstocks to improve nitrogen efficiency in tomato plants, addressing the global challenge of sustainable food production. By examining the morphological, physiological, and biochemical responses induced by rootstocks, the research aims to identify 'N-efficient' and 'N-responsive' genotypes. The experiments, conducted using hydroponic systems, evaluate the impact of grafting on shoot and root biomass, root morphology, leaf area, photosynthetic activity, and nitrate reductase activity. The findings highlight the potential of grafting with vigorous rootstocks to enhance nitrogen utilization and yield in tomato plants, contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices.
