Abstract

The chapter explores the VLSI implementation of a PN sequence generator using two distinct multiplication algorithms. It begins by highlighting the importance of data security in military and cryptographic applications, emphasizing the role of spread-spectrum communications in enhancing data security. The authors introduce Vedic mathematics, a set of techniques for simplifying arithmetic operations, and demonstrate its application in multiplication algorithms. The chapter compares Vedic multiplication with traditional methods, showcasing its advantages in speed, efficiency, and reduced complexity. The implementation of a PN sequence generator using LFSR is detailed, emphasizing its statistical properties and long period sequences. The chapter concludes with simulation results, demonstrating the efficiency and power advantages of the Vedic multiplier over conventional methods. The integration of Vedic multiplication and PN sequence generation offers a compelling solution for secure and efficient signal processing applications.
