Zusammenfassung

Global sind Wälder seit Jahrzehnten sowohl durch den anthropogen verstärkten Klimawandel als auch durch den damit teilweise einhergehenden Biodiversitätsverlust von massiven Änderungen betroffen. Dass Menschen dabei immer stärker in bislang kaum berührte Ökosysteme eingreifen, eröffnet neue Übertragungswege für Zoonosen, die ihren Niederschlag in Pandemien finden können. Zusätzlich bieten, auf einer globalen Skala, Wälder den Wohn- und Lebensraum indigener und auch isolierter Völker und sind auch vor diesem Hintergrund zu schützen. Denn Wälder stellen zahlreiche Ökosystemleistungen für das Überleben, das Wohlbefinden und die Erhaltung und Stärkung von Gesundheit von Menschen zur Verfügung. Wälder bieten Erholungsräume, die sämtliche Sinne positiv ansprechen können, welche daher als eine Ressource angesehen werden können, die sowohl auf körperliche, mentale und soziale Aspekte von Gesundheit wirkt.

In zahlreichen Arbeiten zum gesundheitlichen Nutzen von Waldbesuchen wird dieser Aspekt jedoch übergangen (Grilli und Sacchelli 2020; Rajoo et al. 2020; Schuh und Immich 2019). Dies mag daran liegen, dass dabei implizit ein verkürztes biomedizinisches Gesundheitsmodell zugrunde gelegt wird.

Es lassen sich auch generell Belastungsfaktoren (z. B. Hitzestress), Schonfaktoren (Reinluftverhältnisse) und Reizfaktoren (z. B. intensive Sonneneinstrahlung, böiger Wind) bezüglich der Auswirkungen von Wetter und Klima auf den menschlichen Organismus unterscheiden.
