Abstract

This chapter examines the weak-strong uniqueness property for the motion of a rigid body within a viscous, compressible fluid, considering general inflow-outflow boundary conditions. The text begins with an introduction to the problem, defining the domains and boundary conditions, and presenting the compressible Navier-Stokes equations that describe the fluid flow. It then delves into the concept of weak solutions, providing a definition and discussing the existence of such solutions. The chapter also explores strong solutions and the challenges associated with their existence. A significant portion of the text is dedicated to proving the weak-strong uniqueness result, using relative energy inequalities and change of coordinates techniques. The chapter concludes with a brief overview of known results in the field, highlighting recent developments and the state of the art in the theory of compressible fluids and fluid-structure interaction.
