Abstract

The winter-spring season of 2024/2025 in Moscow was marked by unusual weather conditions, with a positive average January temperature and minimal snow cover. This chapter delves into the heterogeneous weather patterns observed during this period, highlighting the significant temperature anomalies and the lack of stable snow cover. The study utilized advanced measuring systems to monitor temperature variations in the surface air layer, providing detailed insights into the thermal state of the environment. The analysis reveals that January 2025 experienced 16 days with positive average temperatures, with the minimum temperature remaining above zero on 11 of those days. February 2025 was slightly warmer than usual, with precipitation levels well below the multiyear average. The chapter also discusses the implications of these weather patterns for climate change studies, emphasizing the importance of understanding the frequency and impact of hazardous weather events. The detailed examination of temperature and snow cover dynamics offers valuable insights into the evolving climate conditions in Moscow and their broader implications for environmental science.
