A functionally integrated approach regarding the battery housing and its surrounding vehicle structure offers lightweight potential. At Paderborn University and RWTH Aachen University, a functionally integrated housing concept was designed within the FAT project "Lightweight Battery Housing" (FAT series No. 352) for a compact class vehicle with a special emphasis on the joining technology and suitable joining processes.
