A functionally integrated approach regarding the battery housing and its surrounding vehicle structure offers lightweight potential. At Paderborn University and RWTH Aachen University, a functionally integrated housing concept was designed within the FAT project "Lightweight Battery Housing" (FAT series No. 352) for a compact class vehicle with a special emphasis on the joining technology and suitable joining processes. In addition to the simulative investigation of the concept, another area of focus was placed on the evaluation of the leak-tightness of various hybrid joining techniques. …
