Abstract

This study delves into the complex interplay of factors influencing genetic testing adoption, focusing on health literacy, anxiety, cancer risk perceptions, and media exposure. It reveals that health literacy and anxiety significantly correlate with increased adoption rates, while mass media exposure negatively impacts adoption. Conversely, internet exposure and interpersonal communication positively influence adoption. The study also uncovers the moderating role of mass media, which transforms the negative association between cancer risk perception and adoption into a positive relationship, thereby facilitating adoption among high-risk perceivers. Additionally, mass media exposure attenuates the driving effect of anxiety on genetic testing adoption. The research highlights the importance of considering diverse factors and their interactions in promoting genetic testing, offering practical implications for healthcare authorities and institutions.
