Abstract

This study delves into the risky driving behaviors of motorcyclists in Vietnam, focusing on their correlation with traffic incidents and psychological factors. Key areas of investigation include the prevalence of behaviors like mobile phone use, lane violations, and red-light running, as well as the influence of stress, mental fatigue, and anxiety on these behaviors. The study reveals significant associations between these risky behaviors and traffic incidents such as near-crashes, crashes, and violations. Notably, mobile phone use while riding is identified as the most prevalent behavior linked to both crashes and near-crashes. The research also highlights the strong connection between anxiety and near-crash incidents. The study's findings provide valuable insights for developing targeted traffic safety programs aimed at reducing accidents in Vietnam. By examining the demographic characteristics of motorcyclists and employing non-parametric statistical methods, the study offers a comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to traffic incidents and the psychological conditions that influence risky driving behaviors.
