Zusammenfassung

Der marxistisch orientierte Psychoanalytiker Wilhelm Reich (1897–1957) war am 15. Juli 1927 Augenzeuge der von Wiener Polizei-Einheiten nach dem Brand des Justizpalasts zusammengeschossenen, spontanen Massendemonstration gegen den Freispruch der Mordschützen von Schattendorf. In seiner politischen Autobiographie schrieb er (zehn Jahre später), dies Menetekel der Österreichischen Republik habe ihm den Anstoß zur Entwicklung seiner Massenpsychologie des Faschismus (1933) gegeben.
