Abstract

The chapter delves into the intricate dynamics of wind patterns and pollutant dispersion within a T-intersection street canyon, a common urban layout. Using advanced computational fluid dynamics, the study models the flow field and pressure distribution to identify critical regions where pollutants may accumulate. The research highlights the significant impact of wind conditions on the formation of pollution traps, which are crucial for designing effective urban spaces that mitigate air quality issues. By analyzing velocity, pressure, and turbulent kinetic energy distributions, the chapter offers valuable insights into the complex interplay between meteorological factors and urban geometry, providing a foundation for improving air quality in urban environments.
