Abstract

The chapter delves into wind tunnel tests conducted on a 1/8 scaled high-speed train model to analyze aerodynamic noise sources and their frequency characteristics. The study identifies the head car, particularly the bogie regions, as the primary noise sources, with the nose tip and cowcatcher contributing to high-frequency noise. The research also establishes aero-acoustic similarity rules to extrapolate noise characteristics from scaled models to full-scale trains, providing a foundation for designing quieter high-speed trains.
