Abstract

In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland lebten Ende 2011 knapp 81,8 Millionen Menschen. (Just, 2013) Im Jahr 2002 wurde der Höchststand der Bevölkerung in Deutschland mit 82,5 Millionen überschritten. Danach ging die Einwohnerzahl zurück. Dieser Rückgang ist aber, anders als beispielsweise in den 1970er oder 1980er Jahren, eher auf ein strukturelles Problem, als auf ein konjunkturelles Phänomen zurückzuführen. (Just, 2013) Der Grund liegt neben dem starken Rückgang der Geburtenhäufigkeit speziell an dem spürbaren Anstieg der Lebenserwartung in Deutschland.
