Abstract

In September 2015, the United Nations adopted Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (United Nations, 2015) as its centrepiece. This agenda came out as the global political consensus, after months of intensive negotiations with governments, the nine Major Groups (Those are: Non-Governmental Organisations, Children and Youth, Women, Farmers, Business and Industry, Trade Unions and Workers, Local Authorities, Science and Technology, Indigenous Peoples.) and other experts. Although there are many things to say about the 2030 Agenda, the international reaction is overwhelmingly optimistic.
